Samartex 1996 defender Larry Sumaila says he is positive his side will avoid a return to Division one football at the end of the season.

Sumaila was in action when his outfit inflicted a 3-2 win over Hearts of Oak on Sunday in week 30 of the Ghana Premier League at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

In an interview with Radio Gold, the former Hearts of Oak player expressed optimism about Samartex survival in the Ghanaian top-flight.

“Definitely we are in a good position but just that we are taking match by match and our calculations very very well.

“So definitely we are going to stay and that’s our ambition.

“This is our first time coming so our ambition is to stay in the league and the next season we will work towards winning the league if possible.”  He said.

Sumaila joined the Ghana Premier League returnees before the start of the 2022/23 season.

Samartex look quite safe on 42 points seated in 8th with four matches to end the 2022/23 Premier League.
