Ghanaian midfielder Cletus Nombil played his first match for FC Petrzalka on Saturday as they beat Pohronie in the Slovakian second-tier opener.

The former Dreams FC player was handed a starting role and lasted the entire duration as his outfit inflicted a 2-0 win over their opponent on home turf.

The host shot into the lead through Patrik Surnovsky in the 34th minute mark as Petrzalka went to recess with a one goal advantage.

After the break, the home team found the back of the net to extend their lead in the thrilling encounter through Martin Privrel. The Slovakian defender sealed victory with his 55th minute strike.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder recently signed a short-term contract with the Slovakian 2. Liga side after joining on a free transfer.

He had been unattached since leaving Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem when his contract expired on June 30, 2022.

Nombil's last spell was on loan at Hapoel Kfar Saba, where he made 13 appearances in the Israeli second-tier and scored twice in the process.

Before making the switch to Kfar Saba, he had played 18 matches for Jerusalem in the Israeli Premier League. He played a significant role in securing promotion with Jerusalem to the top-flight.

The midfielder has previously had a stint with Czech club Sparta Prague U19 side in the 2018-19 campaign, on loan from Ghanaian club Dreams.
