Several Ghanaian players are stranded in D.R Congo as a result of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis and are calling on the government for help to enable them to return home.

Speaking to Angel FM in Accra, Torric Jebrin who is one of the stranded players has shared that due to financial challenges, players have been forced to stay in one apartment.

They have not been paid for the past 4 months by their clubs as a result of the financial constraints presented by the Covid-19 crisis.

“The government needs to send a flight to come and take us back home because what is going on here is very dangerous and scary”, Jebrin said in an interview this evening.

The stranded players say they have used all their money on them and it is likely they will be homeless at the end of this month if they are not evacuated back home.

According to Isaac Amoah who is one of the stranded players, they have written letters to the Ghanaian embassy in D.R Congo but to no avail.

They are pleading with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to step in and work with the government to make plans for their evacuation as soon as possible.
