Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku will play under new manager Patrick Vieira for the upcoming season.

Patrick Vieira has agreed to terms with the Ligue 1 club on a three-year deal. The 47-year-old manager has been out of work since leaving Crystal Palace in March.

The former Arsenal player replaced Frédéric Antonetti. Vieira previously coached Nice, from June 2018 to December 2020, Manchester City's under-23s, and served as the head coach of New York City FC, both of which are part of the City Football Group.

"I am delighted to join Racing. I am familiar with the club's history and identity, the passion it ignites, and its significance to the region, which is a hub of football and devotion," Patrick Vieira said after signing his contract.

RC Strasbourg is currently under new ownership. Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has acquired a majority stake in Strasbourg.

The club finished 15th in the French top flight last season, narrowly avoiding relegation by just five points.
