The Black Meteors of Ghana have arrived safely in Egypt where they are expected to participate in the 2019 CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The u-23 team of the West African country touched down in Cairo on Monday night to ensure they get enough days to wrap up preparations and acclimatize before the start of the crucial tournament.
In the 8-nation tournament which is starting on Friday, November 8, 2019, Ghana has been pitted in Group A alongside Egypt, Mali, and Cameroon.
This will be the team’s first appearance at the competition but Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his boys say they are booming with confidence to go all the way to the final to earn the right to lift the trophy.
Ghana will play her first match on Friday against its counterpart from Cameroon at the Cairo International Stadium at 20:00GMT.
The top 3 teams at the end of the tournament will secure qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
