Ghana's Black Satellites kicked out of WAFU B Cup of Nations after Ivory Coast draw

Ghana's U-20 national football team, the Black Satellites, has been eliminated from the group stages of the 2023 WAFU Zone B Boys U-20 Cup of Nations following a 1-1 draw against host nation Côte d'Ivoire in their final Group A match at the Champroux Stadium.

Samuel Baodu's side needed a win to qualif for the semifinal but failed to secure the win.

Their campaign got off to a rocky start, as they squandered an early lead and settled for a 1-1 draw against Niger in their opening match.

In their second match, Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Burkina Faso, further complicating their chances of progression.

In the decisive Group A clash against Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana failed to secure the desired result, ultimately settling for a 1-1 draw. As a result, they fell short of securing a place in the semifinals and were eliminated from the tournament.

In the other Group A encounter, Burkina Faso triumphed over Niger with a 2-0 victory, finishing atop the group with a total of 9 points.

Côte d'Ivoire secured the second spot with 4 points, while Ghana settled for third place with 2 points.

Niger ended their campaign at the bottom of the group, earning a single point.
