Ghana international Abdul Majeed Waris has been nominated for Nantes best player in their Cup game against Rennes.

The 27-year-old was on target for his side but The Canaries suffered a 2-1 defeat to exit the Coupe de la Ligue.

The maverick striker is up for best player accolade together with teammates Ciprian Tatarusanu, Lucas Lima and Valentin Rongier who were the outstanding players for Nantes in the game.

Waris has made 15 appearances and scored two goals for Nantes so far this season.

Majeed Waris joined the French Ligue 1 outfit on a season-long loan deal from Portuguese giants FC Porto with the option for purchase at the end.

The former Lorient and Valenciennes forward penned a one-year loan deal with coach Miguel Cardoso’s side after struggling for playing time for the majority of this year in Portugal and he left out of Porto’s squad for the upcoming season by manager Sergio Conceicao.
