Goalkeeper Richmond Ayi reportedly leaves Hearts of Oak after five-year spell

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richmond Ayi has reportedly reached an agreement with the club’s hierarchy to depart ahead of the new season.

Ayi’s association with the Phobians has ended after five-year spell at the club and is expected to find himself a new club before the start of the 2023/24 season.

The 26-year-old shot stopper joined the rainbow boys in 2018 after leaving WAFA but Ayi was unable to establish himself as a key cog to the club.

The former WAFA goalkeeper leaves the Ghanaian giants despite having a two-year deal on his existing contract.

Ayi extended his contract by three years in 2022, which means he could have stayed at the club until 2025.

But Ayi has communicated to the club about his intention to leave, which has been granted by former Ghana Premier League champions.

Meanwhile, reasons for the departure of the former Black Meteors goalkeeper are yet to be known.

Ayi was part of the squad that won treble during the 2020/21 football season. He also played a role when the Phobians won the FA Cup title back to back.
