Ghana international Harrison Afful has tagged the US Major League Soccer (MLS) as a very competitive league despite suggestions that the MLS was a league meant for players on the verge of ending their career.

The Black Stars defender, after a successful season on the African continent, scoring the only goal to help Espérance of Tunisia win the CAF Champions League in 2011 against Wydad Casablanca, decided to later switch borders by moving to the USA in July 2015.

His move brought about suggestions that he was on the verge of calling time on his fine career but has since moved on to make a huge impact in the MLS with a goal in 26 appearances under his belt as a defender in his first season.

“Back home in (Ghana), they say that when you come here, you are about to retire your career.” “When I came here, I saw something completely different.” the 30 year old defender said.

Harrison Afful, has a goal and three assists for the Crew this season from his right wingback position and is still catching the eye of many fans with his flair on the field of play after just two seasons of existence in the MLS.
