Former Black Stars Psychologist Dr Patrick Ofori insists the introduction of the head to head rule in Ghana football helped in reducing the rate of match fixing in the country.

Football has been bedeviled by the canker of match fixing scandals which has affected the serenity of the game. Historically there have been stories of the Calciopoli scandal where Juventus had to be strip off titles and had to even be relegate.

Here in Ghana, it’s no different. A decade ago the game suffered in biggest corruption scandal when two games recorded whooping sixth goals. FC Nania beat Okwahu United 31-0 with Great Mariners also defeating Tudu Mighty jets 29-0.

‘’It is very sad to recall this disgraceful day in  Ghana Football where clubs indulged in this unprofessional conduct but I also believe it has brought one positive measure that is the head to head rule which has come a long way to control the incidence of match-fixing in the Ghana league’’. He told ATL FM in Cape Coast.
