Hearts of Oak leadership committed to support Martin Koopman - Reports

The hierarchy of Hearts of Oak are committed to supporting Martin Koopman, who is the head coach of the side.

The Dutch manager has come under pressure following the Phobians poor start to the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

Fans called for the sacking of the 67-year-old after going four games without a win.

However, following a meeting between the Board of Directors, management and the technical team agreed that the team must improve their performance since the leadership have provided everything the club needs.

Following the meeting, Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium before snatching a point against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.

Hearts' management has seen light at the end of the tunnel and opted to keep faith in Koopman -- the club have remained unbeaten in their last five matches, with an outstanding fixture still to be played.

According to a report by Graphic Sports, the leadership of the club is committed to supporting the Koopman because they believe the Phobians are showing signs of improvement under the coach’s guidance.

The report added that Koopman was not responsible for the team's poor performance and the players despite receiving competitive salaries that were promptly paid.

“Hearts of Oak players receive better salaries than other clubs in the country, and that their salaries were also paid promptly, so the club’s management did not understand why the players were not working extra hard on the pitch,” said the source.

Hearts of Oak will be hosted by Heart of Lions in an outstanding game on Wednesday at the Hohoe Stadium with kick-off scheduled at 15:00GMT.
