Former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda revealed that he could not make his mark at PSL side Orlando Pirates due to the presence of the late Senzo Meyiwa.

Senzo was the goalkeeper and captain of the team at the time and was a regular for the Bafana Bafana, making opportunities difficult to come by for Fatau Dauda. The 35 year old arrived at Pirates in 2013 after the Africa Cup of Nations.

In his interview with GTV Sports+, the Legon Cities goalkeeper confessed that he did learn a lot from the South African although he could not stake a claim for the goalie slot.

"I went at the time where the goalkeeper [Senzo Meyiwa] was the captain," Dauda explained when asked why he failed at the Soweto giants.

"I learnt a lot from him (Senzo), in fact, he was one of the best in the South African League at that time and he had earned a place in the South African National team."
