Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah has insisted that he never played under pressure during his playing days as a footballer.

Appiah played for Italian side, Juventus and Turkish giants, Fenerbahçe.

Speaking in an interview, the 39-year-old revealed that he never played under pressure as a footballer.

According to him, playing for Hearts of Oak at a tender age helped him to withstand playing under pressure.

"I started playing for Hearts of Oak at a very young age with that pressure, I think that is why I have never played under pressure in my career," he told Joy Sports.

"And I think I got that when I use to play for Hearts of Oak because at 15 years, the stadium will be full by 11:00 AM at the time and I still played well and the fans loved me," he added.

Appiah is famously remembered for qualifying the country for its maiden appearance at the history of the World Cup in Germany in 2006.

He also played for Bologna, Udinese, and Brecia, among other clubs.

Stephen Appiah featured 67 times for the Black Stars and scored 14 goals.
