Asante Kotoko assistant coach David Ocloo has shared excitement following Richmond Lamptey’s inclusion in the Black Stars' provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Inter Allies midfielder is among the 11 home-based players included in the 55-man provisional list that was revealed last week by Chris Hughton.

Lamptey exhibited top performance when Kotoko inflicted a 1-0 win over RTU in the week 16 of the Ghanaian top-flight.

After the game, Ocloo has eulogized the inclusion of Lamptey in the provisional list of the Black Stars.

“We were very happy to see him selected. Lamptey is a special player, the vision and his level of technique is very high. I just pray he delivers in the Black Stars”

The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Ivory Coast, and Hughton has until January 3 to finalise his selection, trimming down the provisional squad to the final 27 players for the tournament.

Lamptey will hope to make the cut and contribute to the Black Stars' success in the upcoming competition.
