Asante Kotoko legend Eric Bekoe has said he signed for Berekum Chelsea in 2013 on his return to Ghana from Petrojet in Egypt because then management of the Porcupine Warriors disappointed him.

Bekoe shared that he canceled his contract with Petrojet because he had discussions about returning to Asante Kotoko, but he ended up being disappointed by the club. He disclosed this during an interview with Joy Sports.

The top scorer of the 2007/08 Ghana Premier League season further explained that he joined Berekum Chelsea on the deadline day, as he felt let down by the management of Asante Kotoko.

He expressed his frustration, saying, "I was very hurt because I believed most of the discussions were about my return to Kumasi, which is why I even canceled my contract in Egypt to come."

"When I arrived here, they started creating excuses like injuries and such. I was fortunate to play that season because Berekum Chelsea was participating in Africa, allowing them to register more players.

“That gave me the opportunity to compete in the Ghana Premier League that season. I was registered on the deadline day."
