Ghana international, Mohammed Kudus was full of praise for referee Pol van Boekel on Sunday evening after the match against Sparta Rotterdam.

The Dutch referee was the centre referee for the crucial game in the Eredivisie which ended with Ajax securing a delightful 4-0 win at the end of the contest.

During the game, Mohammed Kudus scored from a direct free-kick in the 84th minute to seal the big win.

For his celebration, the talented youngster raised his jersey over his head to display a shirt with the inscription, 'RIP Atsu', a gesture to pay tribute to late Black Stars winger Christian Atsu.

After escaping a yellow card for that action, Mohammed Kudus in a post-match interview with ESPN said he is grateful to referee Pol van Boekel.

“This is bigger than the rules of football. It's about life and death.

"The referee said it's not allowed, but he understands the situation. I thank him for that and I really respect him,” Mohammed Kudus noted.

Up next for the Ghana star and his Ajax side, the team is travelling to Germany in midweek for the reverse fixture of the Europa League Round 32 clash against Union Berlin.
