If Legon Cities had been relegated, Gyan and I would have been 'dead' - Fatawu Dauda

Ghanaian goalkeeper, Fatawu Dauda is relieved Legon Cities escaped relegation after a topsy-turvy season otherwise he and Asamoah Gyan would have been been 'dead'.

The Royals ended the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season 13th on the league table with 42 points, just one point above the relegation zone.

Legon Cities had to come from behind to beat Techiman Eleven Wonders 3-2 in their final game to stay in the top flight.

Dauda says he is glad Legon Cities were able to survive relegation.

"I’m supposed to be the happiest player, myself and Asamoah Gyan, because of our pedigree, if Legon Cities had been relegated, we would have been dead but God did it for us by escaping relegation narrowly," he said in a post-match interview.

"It was a difficult season for us, but we were able to beat Eleven Wonders and now we are not relegated."
