Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has voiced his willingness to become the running mate to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in Ghana's upcoming December general elections.

In an interview with Onua TV, the 38-year-old football icon stated that he would consider the opportunity an honour and wouldn't decline if it were offered to him.

Gyan, who represented Ghana in the 2006, 2010, and 2014 FIFA World Cups, emphasized the significance of such a role, acknowledging its magnitude.

"Honour is something everybody likes. I won't reject it, but I know that's big,” the former Sunderland striker said.

Presently, Gyan serves as the chairman of the Sports Sub-Committee of the Vice President's Manifesto Committee.

His involvement in this capacity underscores his commitment to contributing to the formulation of strategic sports policies aimed at advancing Ghana's sports sector under the potential presidency of Dr Bawumia.

Notably, Gyan holds the distinction of being Africa's top goal scorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup, further adding weight to his credentials beyond the football pitch.
