It’s a big honour to be chosen as deputy Black Stars captain – Thomas Partey

Midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has expressed his appreciation to the technical team of the Black Stars on his selection as a deputy captain of the team while insisting that it is a big honour.

In a communique from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over the weekend, they announced that the technical team of the Black Stars has decided on players to play leadership roles in the senior national team.

“The Technical team of the senior national team, the Black Stars, upon a broad consultation, has maintained Andre Ayew as Captain of the side.

“In a related development, Thomas Teye Partey of Atletico Madrid has been appointed as 1st Vice-Captain while Richard Ofori steps in as 2nd Vice-Captain”, a part of the communique reads.

Reacting to the news, Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey has pledged to keep working to help the team and the country as a whole.

“It is a big honour to be chosen for this position in the national team. Thanks to the technical team for making me one of the leaders of our beloved national team.

“We will keep working hard to help this great football nation. Congrats to my colleagues Andre Ayew and Richard Ofori as well”, the midfielder noted in a short message from his camp.
