England-born Ghanaian midfielder, Kobbie Mainoo has expressed his excitement after being named the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year Award at Manchester United.

Mainoo made three appearances for Manchester United at the senior level against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup, an Emirates FA Cup game against Reading and an English Premier League game against Leicester City.

Speaking after winning the award, he said, “It’s an unbelievable feeling. I have been at this club all my life and it’s all been building to tonight. And to have my family here watching me, surrounding me, it is just amazing.

"To stay around it and to keep on getting more games is the ultimate goal. I want to stay at this club; I’ve been here my whole life,” he added.

Mainoo recently turned 18 and is one of several bright prospects from the Manchester United Academy angling towards a prominent spot at the senior level coached by Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag.

The young promising footballer is eligible to play for Ghana despite representing England at the juvenile level.
