"It's premature to decide the fate of 2019/20 league season" - Frederick Moore

Hearts of Oak Managing Director Frederick Moore believes it is premature to decide the fate of the 2019/20 league season.

The current football season remains on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic to help curb the spread of the virus.

The season has been suspended since March until further notice following the government’s ban on all public gatherings.

The return of the topflight remains uncertain with some clubs calling for the cancellation of the current season while others have proposed football should return when its safe to do so.

According to Frederick Moore, making a decision now about the 2019/20 league season will be premature.

"For me, I’ve said this in various forms and in different words, and sometimes the interpretation people have put on has been different from what is intended," Frederick Moore told Kumasi FM.

"What I’ve said and will keep saying is that at this moment, to make any final decision could be premature and the reason is that we do not know how the virus is going to react in the next couple of weeks. We cannot say that we’ve totally brought control.

He added, "We do not also have the capacity to play games without supporters, so to make a decision today for what could happen in June could be premature whether we are continuing or truncating the league."

"What I’m sure the FA is doing is setting out timelines as to what they will do at each point of time. We need timelines to tell us what we will do when certain things happen."
