Jordan Ayew says playing in Europe is not a target for Crystal Palace at the moment

Ghanaian international, Jordan Ayew has stressed that Crystal Palace is not targeting qualification to any of Europe’s inter-club competitions at the moment even though they are doing so well in the ongoing season.

The Eagles are currently enjoying a good start to the English Premier League season after match week 8. Their impressive performance has seen them occupying 6th position on the division standings ahead of giants Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs.

Whiles talks of a possible qualification to the Europa League at the end of the season continues, in-form Jordan Ayew says the team wants to secure their safety in the EPL before thinking about anything else.

“Listen there are no targets for us regarding European football – first we want to get to safety as soon as possible, then we will take it from there”, the Black Stars striker said in an interview with Mirror Sports

He further shared, “Sometimes I can understand when people get excited because mostly we start the season slowly and then get up to speed.”

“Winter is coming and there will be so many games but the feeling in the dressing room is positive – the boys want to make it a special season so we are all hopeful that this season we can give something special but we need to still keep doing the basics for now.”

Ayew will be in action on Saturday, October 19, 2019, when his Palace side host Manchester City at the Selhurst Park.
