The forward put in a shift all game, and when an Odsonne Edouard shot span loose in the box, he received his reward by striking home from a very tight angle to earn Palace a draw.

Palace fans voted Ayew as Man of the Match with 44.1% of the total, beating Will Hughes (24.4%) and Wilfried Zaha (12.4%) to the award.

Before his goal, Southampton had the lead from the first half courtesy of goals from James Ward-Prowse and Armando Broja that had made Wilfried Zaha’s strike useless in the first half.

The goal sees Jordan Ayew end a run of 43 matches in all competitions without a goal.

The strike is expected to give the player a massive confidence boost especially ahead of the upcoming 2021 AFCON.
