Jordan Ayew unused substitute in Crystal Palace's defeat to Watford

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew warmed the bench for his club side Crystal Palace in their English Premier League game with Watford.

Ayew since his move to Palace on loan made the team for the first time and was hoping to make his debut.

Palace were beaten 2-1 by Watford with goals from Pereyra and Holebas with Wilfried Zaha scoring the only goal for the London side.

Palace had two excellent opportunities to take an early lead. Benteke should have done better in the 12th minute when he rose highest to meet Andros Townsend's cross in the six-yard box, but the Belgian striker headed at Foster.
