Jose Mourinho Praises Man Utd's 'Beautiful Football' After West Ham Thrashing

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinhohailed his side's performance as they swept aside a tepid West Ham United to reach the semi-finals of the EFL Cup, where they will take on Hull City.

The Hammers held Mourinho's men to a 1-1 when the sides met in the Premier League on Sunday, but doubles from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial ensured a more comfortable evening for United.

Speaking to United's official television station MUTV, Mourinho expressed his pleasure as the goals matched his side's dominant performance, which seems to be the case in the Red Devils' cup encounters thus far, in contrast to their league results.

"[The performance was] more of the same, in terms of the quality of our football, the way we dominate the game, the way we control a good opponent," the Portuguese opined.

"The beauty of our attacking football is more of the same, match after match. But today, with goals. Like against Feyenoord [in the Europa League, last Thursday] but not against West Ham in the league, or Burnley, or Stoke," he continued.

"So I think we are in the right direction, because we played very, very well and that makes me happy because one of the things that I proposed to myself was to come to such a club like [United] and play the football, or the kind of football that people want.

"Because it is [in the United] traditions, so I am really happy with that. Happy with the victory today, happy to give a semi-final to Old Trafford and to Old Trafford [fans] and let's try to go back to Wembley," Mourinho concluded.
