Juventus coach Allegri concedes Benevento made them battle for win

Juventus coach Max Allegri admits they weren't at their best for the 2-1 win over Benevento.

Amato Ciciretti's free kick had given the lead to bottom of the table Benevento in the first half, but Gonzalo Higuain and Juan Cuadrado turned it around.

“I have to compliment the lads today, because we went behind to the only shot on goal of the first half. It seemed like a cursed game, but we needed to be calm, sharp and not too hasty," the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“After going 2-1 up, we continued to run risks on a few corners and counter-attacks. It was not easy today, because after turning it around, we thought it might be over. These games are always complicated."

Juve have now reached second place.

Add Allegri: “Napoli are doing extraordinary things, as are Inter and Roma. Winning games is never easy or to be taken for granted.

“The Serie A season is 38 rounds and I always say we need to go at cruising speed, because too many bumps and waves make you feel ill."

“This is a great side and will fight to the end."
