Juventus Enter Talks With Arsenal's Santi Cazorla Over Potential Summer Switch

Published on: 10 October 2016

Arsenal's Santi Cazorla has been the subject of exit rumours since June, when his scheduled re-signing in North London failed to materialise. Now, it appears that Juventus have sniffed an opportunity to capitalise on the opportunity.

The 31-year-old star is happy at Arsenal, where he has been instrumental in the midfield for the last four years. However, there has been no move on his part to refute speculation that a transfer to Italy might happen in the summer.

"If they'll offer me a new contract, I'll sign it because I am very happy with this great club," Cazorla informed Spanish radio stationCadena SERin an interview.

"I am happy here. I am trusted by the manager and my team-mates."

Cazorla has made 128 appearances for Arsenal and scored 25 goals, so he is hardly out of place. On the other hand, new defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka could end up dislodging the Spaniardfrom the comfort of his current midfield role.

CalcioMercatoWebhave claimed that Juventus have already made contact with Cazorla over the switch, with Axel Witsel also touted as a potential new arrival in a redesigned midfield. Paul Pogba's summer exit left Juventus with a gap to fill and money to fill it with.

Cazorla continues to wait for the new offer to be laid down on the table, but his focus will be on Arsenal in the meantime. The North London club have collected an impressive sixteen points from their first seven games, having lost only one match in that period, and are excelling in the Champions League to boot.
