The world football governing body (FIFA) has imposed a transfer ban on Kenya Premier League side Sofapaka FC for failing to pay Ghanaian forward Jedinak Nana Ameyaw.

The Ghanaian striker saw his contracted terminated in January 2021 by the Wundanyi-based outfit despite having a year left on his existing contract with the club.

However, through the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Nana Ameyaw appealed for the remainder of his wages to be paid but the club refused.

This has force FIFA to impose a transfer ban on the club and will only be lifted once the Ghanaian footballer is paid.

Nana Ameyaw is asking for $12,000 as well as an extra $1,000 for legal costs.

Meanwhile, club president Elly Kalekwa has insisted they will clear the debts soon to get a clearance to get new players.

"We have every intention of paying the money very soon, it's just we have had problems with funding," the Congolese businessman told BBC Sport Africa.
