Head Coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kjetil Zachariassen has disclosed that the absence of top players, Sogne Yacouba and Abdul Fatawu Safiu will not be a problem for his side as they go into their CAF Champions League opening match against Kano Pillars.

The Ghana Premier League side is one of two teams that will be representing Ghana in CAF’s inter-club competitions this year and has been drawn against the Nigerian side in the preliminary stage of the Champions League.

The Porcupine Warriors are set to miss the services of top attackers Sogne Yacouba and Abdul Fatawu Safiu who have both been linked with moves away from the club.

Speaking in a post-match interview after drawing goalless with Ivorian side Société Omnisports on Wednesday, Kjetil Zachariassen indicated that the uncertainty surrounding the availability of the two players is no problem because he has a team that is capable to do battle when they go to Nigeria for the first leg.

“At the moment we are playing with the players we have here and we cannot think about those who are not here, so we work very hard every day to establish a good team”.

“At the moment we have two good teams we can use in Nigeria, so with that aspect we are happy and if they come they will be a plus”, the Norwegian tactician said.

Kotoko will play as a guest to Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
