Kotoko's current team is the best in the last 3 to 4 years - Maxwell Konadu

Assistant Black Stars coach Maxwell Konadu has branded Kotoko's current squad as the best in the last three years and has backed the Reds to progress to the next stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Ghana’s sole representative in Africa proved their mettle in their first outing in the competition after holding Kariobangi Sharks to a goalless draw in Kenya.

Several football pundits and supporters believe coach Charles Kwablan Akunnor has assembled one of the best sides in recent time and are capable of winning the competition.

Speaking on Oyerepa FM, the former Asante Kotoko gaffer who managed the side for two seasons believes Kotoko's current squad is the best, however, he advised them to purchase a central defensive and attacking positions to complement the team.

"I think Kotoko's team is not bad, we will all agree that Kotoko's current team is the best in the last 3 to 4 years, very tough, better than the previous squad,” Konadu stated on Oyerepa FM.

“After watching them play against Inter Allies, Meteors and Kariobangi Sharks and the team is improving match after match but there's room for improvement.”

He added, “Yet I still think Kotoko needs another deadly striker in the shape of Sogne Yacouba so if one is not available, the other can play satisfactorily, depending on one striker is not the best. Another area is the left back and a tough tall central defender.”

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will host Kenyan giants Kariobangi Sharks in the return leg of the CAF Confederations Cup in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Stadium on Saturday.
