Ghana international Kwesi Appiah scored for AFC Wimbledon in their 3-1 defeat to Sunderland in the English League One on Saturday.

AFC Wimbledon suffered a humiliating away defeat in their matchday five fixture at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland took an early lead courtesy Maguire strike after latching on to a long ball and lobbing goalkeeper Nathan Trott in the 8th minute of the game.

However, a fine headed goal from Kwesi Appiah levelled the score for Wimbledon in the 34th minute.

The Black Cats created plenty of chances but were wasteful until Maguire's deflected drive through a crowded area put them ahead again eight minutes after the break.

He headed in his second and side's third to secure all three points for the former Premier League club.

Appiah has made four appearances and scored two goals for AFC Wimbledon so far this season.
