Head coach of the Black Stars, Avram Grant has labelled his team's display in the win against Mali in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations as 'matured'.

The Black Stars recorded a 1-0 victory over the Eagles of Mali in the second match of Group D in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations at the Stade Port Gentil courtesy a 20th minute header by skipper Asamoah Gyan to send the team through to the next stage of the competition with a game to spare.

During the team's mandated post match interview, Grant says he’s satisfied with how his outfit held on to their slim advantage in the first half of the match to book a place in the quarter finals of the tournament.

"The pitch didn't allow us to play our counter attacking football. You saw how we lost some passes when we tried to take the game to them."

"But, something is happening and I'm happy with the boys because they're matured enough to know that what we needed most was the maximum points. I think in the first half we played good football and the second half we played matured football."

The Black Stars will play against the Pharaohs of Egypt in the last game of the group on Wednesday January 25th.
