Leicester Boss Claudio Ranieri Claims 1-0 Defeat to Bournemouth Was 'Harsh' on His Side

Published on: 13 December 2016

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri insisted that his side deserved more from their match with Bournemouth and has labelled the defeat to the Cherriesas 'harsh.'

The Foxes terrible away record continued on Tuesday evening where they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the Vitality stadium.

The result means that Ranieri's men are yet to win away from home in the league this season and has brought the team crashing back down to earth following last weekend's 4-2 win over Manchester City.

But speaking after the defeat to Bournemouth, the Leicester manager claimed that he felthis side had done enough to earn a draw and saidthathe was pleased with his players' performance.

Ranieri told the clubwebsite:I think the result is too harsh for us because we deserved more. In the first half in our best moment, we had a chance to score with a corner. Then, they scored a goal.

In the second half, we created more chances than them, but we didn't score. Then, Bournemouth won. Well done to Bournemouth, but I think tonight we deserved a draw.

It's okay, the performance was good for us. Of course, it wasn't possible to make the same performance as Man City, but it was good. The desire was good and the concentration was good, just the goal [was missing].

The Foxes had made a sluggish start to the game and as expected, looked to sit deep whilst waiting to play on the counter attack.

Despite having over an hour to find an equaliser, the visitors were unable to breakdown a stubborn Bournemouth defenceand although it continues Leicester's poor away form, Ranieri said he remains confidentthat they can turn things around.

He added:Sometimes we have to be more aggressive and press a little higher to get back in the match.

I know in our eight matches away, we have got only one point, but I think we can improve. I'm sure in the next eight matches, we will do something more.

The Italian did at least have some good news for Leicester fans, when he statedthat both Danny Drinkwater and Kasper Schmeichel should be available for the team'snext match at Stoke City.

Ranieiri said of the duo:(Danny) Drinkwater received a kick on his knee in Porto and I hope he is ready for Saturday. For (Kasper) Schmeichel, in the last week he trained very well, so also he should be available for Saturday's game"
