Leonardo Bonucci won't leave AC Milan despite struggles - agent

AC Milan's Gennaro Gattuso believes his side still have a lot to improve on but believes their win over Inter will give them a huge confidence boost.

Leonardo Bonucci will not leave AC Milan in the winter despite his difficult first five months with AC Milan, his agent has said.

Bonucci joined Milan in a €40 million transfer from Juventus in the summer and was made captain shortly after arriving, but his performances have been criticised with the team 11th in Serie A.

The 30-year-old -- a reported target for Chelsea and Manchester City in the past -- has again been linked with a move abroad, with Milan facing the need to sell players should they not qualify for Europe next season.

But agent Alessandro Lucci told Sky Sport Italia: "Leonardo is a Milan player, and he chose to play for Milan and will continue to pursue his objectives there.

"He's a great professional, a leader, and he wants to get out of this situation and help the club reach the objectives they deserve."

Milan reached the semifinals of the Coppa Italia by beating city rivals Inter this week and are in the round of 32 of the Europa League.

However, they are 14 points behind the top four in Serie A and look unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Bonucci also had a disappointing first season with Juve before going on to win Serie A for six seasons in a row.

This week, he said he could see parallels between the two situations and predicted that Milan would soon get back "where they belong."
