Let’s focus on how the Black Stars can win the 2021 AFCON title – Yahaya Mohammed

Aduana Stars forward Yahaya Mohammed has entreated Ghanaians not to lambast the Black Stars team following their defeat in a friendly against Morocco.

Ghana lost narrowly to the Atlas Lions last Tuesday after goalkeeper Razak Abalora’s howler gifted the North African’s victory.

The Asante Kotoko shot stopper and the entire team have received lots of backlash despite their good performance after the defeat.

But according to the experienced striker, it is better to think about winning the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations than to focus on the outcome of friendly matches.

“In my opinion I’m not thinking about the score line of the game.

“I’m thinking about how prepared we are to win the [2021] Africa Cup because winning all our friendly matches and losing the Africa Cup, it’s zero.

“But me building my team to win the Africa Cup I think that one is better than you winning all your friendly matches without thinking about building a team and filling your holes to win the AFCON, work done is zero.

“So Ghanaians should lower their expectation [about the friendly matches] and rather come together to help the coach.

“[CK Akonnor], now he is the one there, you have no option but to support him.

“Whether you are party A or party B, you have to support him for him to win the ultimate for us.” He told Goodnews fm.

Ghana will play host to Ivory Coast on Saturday at the Cape Coast stadium.
