Live Updates: Asante Kotoko 1-2 Asokwa Deportivo - MTN FA Cup Round of 64

Good afternoon and welcome to footballghana.com's live text commentary of the MTN FA Cup clash between Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko and Lower Division side Asokwa Deportivo. 

Due to the closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium which is undergoing renovation works in preparation for Ghana's 63rd Independence Anniversary Celebration, the encounter between the two team's in the Round of 64 is being played at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.

Kick-off:

The referee has whistled for the start of the match.

Derrick Bonsu (Deportivo) commits a rough challenge and referee George Amoah blows his whistle for an infringement.

William Opoku pulls off a header to Sam Adams' free-kick but the goalkeeper is alert and grabs the ball.

Samuel Otoo (Deportivo) pulls off a great save to deny William Opoku who, makes himself some space inside the box and unleashes a quick low drive towards the far post.

Asante Kotoko now required to defend as Habib Mohammed concedes a foul close to our penalty box. The resulting kick has deflected the human wall and is cleared to safety.

Sam Adams attempts to find Richard Arthur with a cross, but the defense is well-positioned and clears the ball to corner. The resulting kick is wasted.

Augustine Okrah plays through Imoro Ibrahim at the left-wing and runs quickly enough connect the left back's cut-back pass with a feeble hit straight to the goalkeeper

We are approaching the half-hour mark. Still, nothing to separate the two teams.

Goaaaalllll. Imoro Ibrahim plays a lovely pass into the box and finds William Opoku. He tries to hit it but failed and Richard Arthur feeds on the loose ball to hit it home. It's 1-0

A good fight from Asokwa Deportivo sees the side drawing level late in the first half courtesy a strike from David Cudjoe.

We are back underway at the Len Clay Sports Stadium for the second half.

Christopher Nettey takes the free-kick from the right side of attack and unleashes a fine shot to the top right corner, but his effort is thwarted by Samuel Otoo who tips it to corner. The resulting kick is wasted.

65: Asante Kotoko 1-2 Deportivo A Deportivo player pounces on a rebound just outside the box and sends the ball into the back of the net after taking two steps into the penalty box.

Christopher Nettey has picked up a foot injury and is replaced by Augustine Sefah.

70: Asante Kotoko 1-2 Deportivo SUB! Mathew Cudjoe has replaced Augustine Okrah. 

Anim Cudjoe is shown the yellow card for a bad tackle on a Deportivo player.

Imoro Ibrahim tries a shot from the edge of the box but his effort is blocked.
