LIVE UPDATES: Ghana 2-0 Uganda – U-20 AFCON final

Good evening and welcome to the live text coverage of the final match for the 2021 Total CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Black Satellites of Ghana are locking horns with their counterpart from Uganda tonight in the finals of the 2021 Total CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The two teams have impressed since the start of the tournament being staged in Mauritania started and get to battle it out for the ultimate prize at the Stade Olympique Nouakchott.

Uganda although not having a lot of experience at this tournament has proven to be a very top team. They are in the final after scoring the most goals at the tournament.

For Ghana, the three-time winners of the U-20 AFCON are keen on beating the opponent today to take their tally to four.

Ahead of kick-off at 20:00GMT, both managers have named their respective starting elevens for the game.

Kick-off:

1' We are off at the Stade Olympique Nouakchott as Uganda kicks us off for the final of the U-20 AFCON. It's game on.

15' Some end-to-end action in the last few minutes. The game has been very open and could go either way.

18' Game has slowed down a bit with multiple fouls committed. Ghana enjoying the most of possession though.

21' Goal!!! Afriyie Barnie connects to a corner to give Ghana the lead. It has been coming and well-deserved.

27' The tempo of play from the Ugandans has gone up in the last five minutes. Ghana needs to be cautious at the back.

30' We have played 30 minutes in the final. Ghana still leads by a lone goal.

33' Free-kick for Uganda in a dangerous position. The Ghana wall is equal to it as the ball is cleared to safety.

35' Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim is down and requires medical attention. Cause for worry here.

36' Good news, the Ghana goalkeeper is well and can continue.

40' We are five minutes to the end of the first half. Will there be another goal.

Halftime: The referee blows his whistle to bring the first half to an end. We will be back after 15 minutes with the second-half action.

Second half:

46' We are back underway for the second half of the final. Ghana 1-0 Uganda.

50' Goal!!! Afriyie Barnieh nets his second goal of the day to double the lead for Ghana. Credit to Abdul Fatau Issahaku and Percious Boah in the build-up.

53' It has been all Ghana since the start of the second half. That second goal has dampened the spirit of the Uganda players. Can they pick themselves up?

60' After an hour of the exciting contest it is Ghana with a 2-goal advantage against Uganda. Can the Black Satellites hold on?

64' End to end action in the last few minutes but Uganda finding it difficult to breach the Ghana defense.

70' Uganda now piling needed pressure on the Ghana defense. A good chance is unfortunately wasted. The Hippos still trail by two goals.
