Three Premier League clubs are competing for the transfer of Lille midfielderSoualiho Meite, according to the Mirror.

Meite, who is currentlyon loan atBelgian sideZulte-Waregem, is attracting major interest from top European clubs. Premier League rivals Liverpool and Everton are set to table£6m bids for the former France U20 midfielder, while West Ham are also said to be monitoring the 22-year-old's progress.

Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and Schalke are also said to be interested in signing Meite, who has so far made 10 appearances in Belgium's Pro League this season. Borussia Dortmund have a successful track record when it comes to developing young players, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Christian Pulisic and Raphael Guerreiro all currently experiencing healthy amounts of first-team action so far this season.

Meite, who plays as a defensive midfielder, could also helpaddress the defensive issues seen at both Liverpool and West Ham so far this season. The Reds have been without a specialistdefensive midfielder during the early parts of the season, with Emre Can experiencing trouble with injury, and are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this campaign.

West Ham have had a disastrous start to the season after their successful 2016-16 season, and currently sit in 18th position having conceded 17 goals, the highest of any Premier League team this season.

Everton are also said to be interested in signing the former Auxerre man, but with Idrissa Gueye performing so well for the Toffees in defensive midfield thus far this season it remains to be seen whether Meite would jump straight into Ronald Koeman's first-team squad.
