Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has expressed concern over the low attendance at Ghana Premier League games, acknowledging the ongoing issue in the country's top-flight football scene.
Addressing the issue in an interview, Minister Ussif highlighted the persistent challenge of low turnout in previous seasons, which has continued into the current campaign.
He emphasized his worries about the dwindling level of attendance observed in various stadiums.
To address this issue and revitalize interest in the league, the Minister revealed plans for collaboration with the Ghana League Clubs Associations (GHALCA).
One proposed solution involves deploying National Service Personnel to assist clubs in enhancing branding and creating engaging content aimed at attracting more fans to the stadiums.
Expressing his determination to tackle the problem, Minister Ussif emphasized the importance of this initiative, anticipating its positive impact on boosting attendance and ultimately benefiting the league as a whole.
"I am not excited with the level of attendance during Ghana Premier League games but have held talks with Ghana League Clubs Associations (GHALCA) about assisting them with National Service Personnel to help the clubs with content and other stuff," he told Asempa FM.
"We just started that initiation and we know in the long run, it will yield the benefits we all want," he added.
