Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has been given a warning that if he is to save his Old Trafford career then he has to work harder.

Shaw has been named in the Old Trafford squad by Mourinho, to face Bournemouth in this weekend's Premier League fixture andthe Portuguese managercertainly believes the former Southampton defender has potential to be a regular fixture in his side.

Mourinho when discussing the left-back's potential, commented: "By age, by physicality, by intensity, aggressive going forward, he should be the best."

But the comments came with a caveat when the Manchester United boss also said: "But to be the best you need to work hard. It's what he's trying to do. In practical terms we have lots of left-backs - Luke, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian can all play there."

Mourinho concluded by saying: "The one that should be - in a couple of years - best of all, because potentially he should have all the conditions to be the best of all, is Luke."

Luke Shaw should be hoping that he gets the opportunity to show his manager what he can do in Saturday's game.

At least being named in the squad sees the left-back get a step closer to showing what he can do on the pitch.
