West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) midfielder Majeed Ashimeru says he is working towards winning the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League (GPL) top goal scorer award.

Ashimeru has two goals to credit, one less than Ashantigold’s Hans Kwofie, who is leading the goal king chart with three goals out of eight matches played.

The Midfielder scored a goal in his side’s 4-1 thrashing of defending champions Wa All Stars in an outstanding league match played yesterday at the Wa Park.

Ashimeru, who was full of joy, told the GNA Sports that he battled with injuries last season, which kept him out of WAFA’s league campaign, but he is now fit and wants to win the league’s top goal scorer award.

“I’m working towards winning the top goal scorer of the season. It’s going to be tough because there are other players out there who want to achieve that but with hard work and determination, I will win that award with the help of my team mates.”

“To achieve my target I have to continue scoring for my side. I want to see my team in the top four.”

WAFA currently occupies the third position on the league log with 14 points out of a possible 24.
