Man Utd Boss Jose Mourinho Takes Big Swipe at One of His Own Players After Fenerbahce Defeat

Jose Mourinho has blasted summer signingHenrikMkhitaryan following the Armenian's substitute appearance against Fenerbahce last Thursday, according toSky Sports.

The midfielder joined the Red Devils this summer and despite making a relatively successful start to the season, injury and poor fitness have seen Mkhitaryan take a back seat since the derby defeat to Manchester City back in September.

With rumours rife that the former Borussia Dortmund star was unsettled or deemedunfit for first team football, he finally made an appearance during United's 2-1 defeat to Fenerbahce in the Europa League last week.

Mourinho brings Mkhitaryan on, at two nil down, away in Turkey, after not having played in weeks. Go on pal, good luck with that one.

Despite only playing half an hour in Turkey, substitute Mkhitaryan was singled out by an angry Mourinho after the match.

The United boss, who was already on the war-path following another dreadful performance, said of Mkhitaryan:"He has to do more, it's as simple as that.

"We have big expectations at this club, lots of players for these positions, and he has to play better than [Juan] Mata, [Jesse] Lingard, [Anthony] Martial - he has to play better than them.

"It's as simple as that. Every manager wants to win matches, every manager in the world wants to play the players that he thinks can help the team more, and I'm no different."

The defeat for Mourinho's side has heaped more pressure on the Portuguese, who has seen his team slip down to eighth in the Premier League, already eight points off leaders Manchester City.

United will hope to move on quickly from their midweek defeat, as they nowtravel to Swansea for this weekend's Premier League clash.

Whilst Mourinho will be seeking a big improvement from all of his players, a lot of focus will now be on Mkhitaryan's personal performance, although it remains doubtful whether his manager will even give him some playing time at all.
