Man Utd move to secure Aston Villa keeper Johnstone to new deal

Manchester United won't allow Sam Johnstone leave at the end of the season.

The Daily Star says United are set to take up a 12-month contract option on goalkeeper Johnstone, 24, who is on loan at Aston Villa.

Villa want to keep him and other clubs are eyeing the situation but United don't want to lose Johnstone for nothing in the summer.

Steve Bruce, the Villa manager, recently stated: “We will do everything in our power (to buy him from Manchester United).

“He's got another year left on his United deal but he's going to find it difficult to break through there because of what they've got.

“Players like that need to find a platform."
