Man Utd reps house-hunting for Barcelona defender Umtiti

Published on: 03 March 2018

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti is edging closer to a move to Manchester United.

Diario Gol says the 24-year-old currently earns £70,000-a-week but wants to see his wages doubled.

But club president Josep Maria Bartomeu is refusing to budge.

And United have started house-hunting for the centre-back and are willing to meet his £53m release clause.

Umtiti has agreed provisional terms with United, who are willing to pay him more than he is asking for in Spain.

Teammate Gerard Pique has urged Barca chiefs to pay Umtiti what he wants and the Spaniard's warning has been followed by Lionel Messi, who is desperate for him to stay at the club.
