Manchester City Midfielder Nearing Return to His Boyhood Club as His Contract Soon Expires

Manchester City midfielder Jesus Navas is in talks with his former club Sevilla over rejoining the club he left four years ago.

According toSpanish publicationAS, the talks have been ongoing since last summer but the Spaniard was keen to stay until hiscontract expired at City.

Having only made five Premier League starts this season it is clear Navas isn't a favourite of Pep Guardiola's and his lack of playtime has resulted in the winger failing to tally a goal or assist so far.

Navas has been at his current club since 2013 and with his contract expiring in the summer there has been no indication that his manageris set to offer him a new deal.

31-year-old Navas is now free to talk to any club in Europe and is allowed to sign a pre-contract in the January transfer window.

Navas had played 285 times for Sevilla before his £14.9m switch to City and having joined the Spanish side as a 15-year-old is said to be very keen on a return to the club.

There has been no speculation over whether City will bring in a replacement for the speedster, however the beginning of this month saw summer signing Gabriel Jesus touch down in Manchester.

The 19-year-old, who was signed for around £27m in August is one of the hottest prospects in football and having impressed in his time in Brazil as well as on the International stage is set be handed his City debut sooner rather than later.

It is still unclear ifCity, who are not short of money, are looking to add to their squad in this transfer window. However, with manager Guardiola seeming very frustrated with his side's performances in recent weeks, it wouldn't be a surprise if more players were to follow Navas in potentially leaving the blue side of Manchester.
