Manchester United assistant coach Steve McClaren on final three-man shortlist for Ghana job

Published on: 18 January 2023

Manchester United assistant manager Steve McClaren is in line for the Black Stars coaching job after making the final shortlist.

Following the resignation of Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars, the Ghana Football Association has been on a hunt for a new coach.

However, according to Accra-based Asempa FM, the domestic football governing body has shortlisted three top coaches for the vacant Black Stars job with the former England manager no exception.

Other coaches in contention for the Ghana job include Hector Cupper and Chris Hughton who recently served as the technical advisor of the Black Stars.

Hughton seems to be a favourite for the job due to his experience with the Black Stars.

The Ghana FA is expected to name a substantive coach for the Black Stars by the end of January, with over 60 foreign coaches applying for the top job.

The Black Stars will return to action in March for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
