Manchester United Eyeing Swoop for Atletico Madrid Ace Bernard Mensah

Manchester United reportedly sent scouts to watch Atletico Madrid youngster Bernard Mensah on Saturday.


That's according toThe Sun, who arealso reporting that the Ghanaian had been linked with a move to Old Trafford in July of 2015 before the La Liga club made their move and secured his signature.

The 21-year-old was in action for hisloan sideVitoria Guimaraes as they drew 1-1 with Belenenses in the Portuguese league on the weekend, and United representatives were believed to be in attendance, keeping close watch on the player.


According to sources, Mensah comes highly recommended by super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents Jose Mourinho as well as stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Costa, Andre Gomes and David de Gea.


The story also claims that Sevilla had their scouts watching on as well.

United, meanwhile, have returned to winning ways following a slump during which they lost three matches on the bounce. They beat Northampton 3-1 in the third round of the EFL Cup last week, and were victorious over Premier League champions Leicester City, claiming a 4-1 result.


Paul Pogba scored his first goal since returning to the club, while Marcus Rashford continued his impressive form with yet another goal. Goals from Chris Smalling and Juan Mata completed the rout.


A Europa League group stage match against Zorya is up next, and that will be followed by a league clash with Stoke City at Old Trafford. Things will become slightly more challenging after that, with games against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City set to follow.
