Medeama captain Vincent Atinga Addae is currently without a club after his contract with the club expired on Monday, September 11, 2023.

The towering guardsman depart the Yellow and Mauves after failing to reach an extension agreement with the club.

According to reports in the local media, the former Hearts of Oak defender wanted only a season contract while the Yellow and Mauves wanted a one-year deal but both parties were unable to reach a consensus, hence his departure.

His exit from the club come as a huge blow ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League tie against Horoya AC from Guinea this weekend.

The 29-year-old returned to the Ghana Premier League to join Medeama in 2021 after spells abroad, where he featured for KF Tirana in Albania and Kuwaiti clubs Qadsia SC and Al Shabab.

Atinga scored 21 goals in the Ghanaian top-flight across the three seasons he played for Medeama after 74 appearances.

In the 2022-2023 campaign, Atinga scored 11 goals in 28 matches, helping Medeama to win the Ghana Premier League title for the very first time in history.

He was recognized with the prestigious 2022-23 Ghana Premier League Player of the Season accolade for his exceptional contributions last Saturday at an awards ceremony organised by the Ghana Football Association.

Atinga has already bid farewell to the club's coaches and teammates as he leaves the club with immediate effect.
