MLS Western Conference: Latif Blessing provides assists as LAFC lift Supporters Shield

Ghanaian international Latif Blessing was in fine form over the weekend when his Los Angeles FC posted a 3-1 win over Colorado Rapids to ensure they lifted the ‘Supporters Shield’ of the MLS Western Conference.

The club has been outstanding all campaign and finished off the regular season with an emphatic performance that saw them comfortably cruise past their opponent on Sunday.

LAFC’s poster boy Carlos Vela opened the scoring for the winners on the 32nd minute with an assist from Latif Blessing.

The striker followed that up with a second to complete his brace on the 35th minute to give his side a two-goal cushion.

Colorado Rapids did not back down and pushed until they finally got a consolation through Kei Kamara. His header gave his side a lifeline as they tried to get a point off the champions.

A second-half strike from Carlos Vela completed a sensational hat-trick for the Argentine whiles ensuring LAFC run away with a deserved win.

Besides clinching the Western Conference Supporters Shield with that victory, the side also set a new league record for most points in a single season with -72-.

Latif Blessing and his Los Angeles FC side now head into the MLS playoff and will be hoping to enjoy more success.
