Mohammed Kudus has the quality to play for any top European club – Liverpool legend John Barnes

Liverpool legend, John Barnes believes Mohammed Kudus can succeed at any top European club with his qualities if he decides to part ways with Ajax.

Kudus has been linked to several European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window following his explosive performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The 22-year-old has scored 18 goals and 6 assists in all competitions in the process.

Barnes has been in Ghana for a one-day football clinic organized by Standard Chartered Ghana on Saturday for children at the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) in Accra which he led.

In his interaction with the media at the event, John Barnes was convinced Kudus is ready for the next step in his career.

“I played against Abedi Pele when I was at Liverpool in 1987 when Abedi Pele was on trial at Bayern Munich of course we remember him at Marseille but he had been going around Europe at different clubs and he had that potential," he said.

“And of course, from him, you see so many Ghanaian players so nothing has really changed apart from, players now moving sooner much sooner than they possibly are ready to move but he definitely has the potential to play as high a level as any of the other Ghanaian players,” he added

Barnes won two league titles and two FA Cups with Liverpool FC. He was also an FA Cup runner-up with Watford, Liverpool and Newcastle United. He also played for England 79 times.
